EW.com is pretty much asking that question. They bring up the fact of the open ending from “The Dark Knight” with Heath Ledger’s Joker saying
“I think you and I are destined to do this forever”
Sure in Tim Burton 1988 Batman, the Joker dies, but in the comic book realm, the Joker is around finding new ways to give hell to Batman.
The article suggests maybe Joseph Gordon-Levitt or Emile Hirsch as replacements in some way.
I personally think that they should just leave it be. There are plenty of other villains that they can use to torment Batman. Ledger’s performance was so awesome that no one could top it, and I highly doubt anyone would want to.
So I pose this question to you…Should the Joker just die off or should Warners recast the character?
