Project Runway – Go Big or Go Home

This week, Project Runway contestants got a double dose of challenges, not only was there project challenge to design a look for stilt model, but they also had to do this in teams, and as we all know from past seasons, there is always one pair that brings the drama.   Tonight’s pairs were as follow: Anthony Ryan Auld and Laura Kathleen, Bryce Black and Fallene Wells , Anya Ayoung-Chee and Oliver Green, Becky Ross Green and Kimberly Goldson, Bert Keeter and Viktor Luna, Danielle Everine and Cecilia Motwani, Joshua Mckinley and Julie Tierney.

The contestants were given only one day and $500 to come up with their designs.  About 5-minutes into their time, it became clear that Bert and Victor were going to be this weeks drama dream team, as they not only didn’t get along but when Tim came in to do checks, their favorite letter seemed to be “I”, once again we have two people who don’t understand “There is no I in team” and ended up designs something that the judges would later say looked like they used the curtains right off the wall (think “Sound of Music”).  The other team having trouble was Bryce Black and Fallene Wells, who started out creating a gothic ballerina but ended up with a tutu and tank top.  This was due to Fallene not knowing to cut on the grain when she was trying to create the bodice.  Due to the error, the bodice was not useable and Bryce created a black tank top so that the model would at least have a top.

The rest of the teams seemed to work well together.  Becky and Kimberly each worked on their strengths (Becky – jackets, Kimberly – pants), and Laura and Anthony Ryan worked on a design that was right on trend for the Fall season.

This week also featured the first ever outdoor runway show in front of a live audience and select members of the press.  This week, joining judges Michael Kors, Nina Garcia and Heidi Klum was guest judge Kim Kardashian.  As the models walked it was easy to see which teams “made it work” and which teams just failed.

Since last weeks winner Oliver Green was safe, both he and his team mate Anya were sent to safety.  Leaving the team of Laura/Anthony Ryan, Danielle/Cecilia, and Becky/Kimberly in the top 3.  This left teams Bryce/Fallene, Joshua/Julie and (shocker) Bert/Victor in the bottom 3.

After round of praise for the top 3 teams and loads of excuses’ from the bottom 3 including (another shocker) Bert and Victor throwing each other under the bus (which they should know by now, Heidi hates that), someone had to win and someone had to go home.

Winning this week was Laura Kathleen who Anthony Ryan credited as coming up with their (now) winning design.

Landing in the bottom 2 was Viktor Luna for throwing Bert under the bus and Fallene Wells, who other than the head piece, made nothing on her teams design.  It wound up being Fallene who got Heidi’s “Auf Wiedersehen” and was eliminated from the show.

Project Runway airs Thursday nights at 9pm on Lifetime.
