This past Sunday at the 2011 American Music Awards Taylor Swift as the big winner and was also sporting on of the latest trends…braids. 

Celebrity hair and makeup artist Sherri Jessee of Sherri Jessee Salon tells us how to get Taylor’s side swept pony-braid in 4 quick steps.

1. Sweep your hair to one side. Hold low and tight at the nape of your neck and split into two sections. (Rather than using 3 strands in a classic braid, a fishbone braid only uses two.)

2. Take a tiny section of hair from the left side and cross it over to join the right side.

3. Take a tiny section of hair from the right side and cross it over to join the left side.

4. Continue on in this manner until you have the desired length for your braid. Tie off end with a few pins or a clear elastic.
