Box Office – Think Like A Man Beats Hunger Games for #1

Sorry Katniss, but the odds were not in your favor this weekend as “Think Like A Man” finally knocked “Hunger Games” out of number one spot. 

Kevin Hart had a big weekend, not only did his movie score the #1 spot at the box office with $33 million, taking in more than double the films reported budget of $12 million), but “Think Like A Man” also knocked “Hunger Games” out of its 4 week hold on the box office.  Zac Efron’s “The Lucky One” came in at #2 with $22.8 million, which is seems about normal for films based off Nicholas Sparks novel.  Katniss and the gang rolled in at #3 with $14.5 million, bringing the films domestic total to $356.9 million.  In worldwide totals, “The Hunger Games” has now grossed more than $572 million.  The Disney documentary “Chimpanzee” landed at #4 with $10.2 million of which a portion of all the proceeds from “Chimpanzee” first week totals will be donated to the Jane Goodall Foundation. Rounding out the top 5 is “The Three Stooges” with $9,2 million.

This upcoming marks the last weekend before the summer blockbuster movie season starts and will see the opening of “The Five Year Engagement”, “The Pirates! Band of Misfits”, “Raven”, and “Safe (2012)”.
