CBS Orders 7 News Series, Cancels 4 Series Incl. CSI: Miami

CBS has finally announced what new shows will be joining the network for the 2012-13 TV Season. 

Among the shows NOT staying will be long running “CSI: Miami” and freshman entries “Rob”, “A Gifted Man”, and “Unforgettable”; “CSI: New York” will be returning for another season next year.

For CBS’ new offering, the network has picked up 2 comedies, 4 dramas, and 1 non-scripted show.

New Comedies:

“Friend Me” - Follows two friends who move from their hometown of Bloomington, Ind., to L.A. to begin their new lives working at Groupon. Starring Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Nicholas Braun, Parvesh Cheena, Tim Robinson and Dan Ahdoot. 

“Partners” - Centers on architects Charlie and Louis’ and their friendship, which has lasted longer than either of their romantic relationships and almost seems like a weird marriage. Starring David Krumholtz, Michael Urie, Sophia Bush and Brandon Routh. 

New Dramas

“Made in Jersey” - This  legal drama centers on a working-class woman, who will use her street-ways to compete against her colleagues at a posh New York Law Firm.  Starring Janet Montgomery, Stephanie March, Kyle MacLachlan, Erin Cummings, Toni Trucks, Felix Solis, Pablo Schreiber and Donna Murphy.

“Elementary” - Is a modern take of Sherlock Holmes with Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock, now living in New York City.  Dr. Watson will be played by Lucy Liu; Aidan Quinn will also star.

“Golden Boy” - Will follow one cops rise from officer to detective to police commissioner. Starring Theo James, Holt McCallany, Bonnie Somerville, Chi McBride, Kevin Alejandro and Stella Maeva. 

“Vegas” - Set in the 1960′s, the show centers on the true story of Ralph Lamb, a rodeo cowboy-turned-longtime sheriff of Las Vegas.  Starring Dennis Quaid (as Lamb), Chiklis, O’Mara, Carrie-Anne Moss and Taylor Handley.

Non-Scripted/Reality

“The Job” – Where contestants compete for their dream job. Lisa Ling has been tapped to host the show where five contestants selected from thousands of applicants will go head-to-head for the chance to score their dream job at one of America’s most prestigious companies.
