Tonight MTV celebrated the movies with their annual MTV Movie Awards that aired live from Los Angeles.
Hosted by comedian Russell Brand, the show opened with the band fun. as they performed their hit song “We Are Young” and continued with an up-beat pace thanks to entertaining presenters, great musical performances, and a non-Twilight ruled show.
Since the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, Twilight has always ruled the awards, usually up for an award in every category (and winning most of them), this year was a little, mainly due to the nominees NOT being pick by the fans (the winners however are still chosen by the fans via online and text voting).
This year both “The Hunger Games” and “Bridesmaids” were up for the most amount of awards and while “Bridesmaids” went home with only two wins for Best Comedic Performance for Melissa McCarthy and Best Gut-Wrenching Performance, “The Hunger Games” won a total of four awards including Best Male and Female Performance, Best Fight, and Best On-Screen Transformation.
“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2″ which was up for 6 awards only took home one award for Best Cast which was accepted by Emma Watson.
The franchise that has ruled the MTV Movie Awards for the past 3 years did continue to win two of the nights biggest awards. ”The Twilight Saga: Breaking
Dawn part 1″ took home both Best Kiss for Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart and Movie of the Year. These were not only the only two awards this movie were nominated for, but the Twilight Saga has now won in these categories for the forth year in a row.
MTV presented the Generation Award to Johnny Depp who was present to accept the award and also took the stage to preform with the band The Black Keys.
For 2012 MTV introduced a new award, The Trail Blazer award and its first recipient went to the amazing Emma Stone.
