Remember back in January when we first told you that Twilight Saga star Kristen Stewart signed on to be the face of the new Balenciaga women’s fragrance? Well now with the release of the new scent named Florabotanica set for September, Balenciaga has released the first image from the ad campaign.
In an interview with WWD, Stewart said “There is something natural about it, it’s very alive. I think that as a young person wearing it — considering that I’ve never worn a scent — it kind of puts you on this level of, like, ‘Whoa, check me out.’ ”
Ever since the announcement of her partnership with Balenciaga, Kristen has been seen in several “off the runway” or custom gowns, sitting front row at their Paris fashion shows, and most recently attended the Met Gala with Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquière.
The Florabotanica ad (pictured below and Shot by Steven Meisel) features Stewart standing with her hands in the pocket of a foral yellow dress from the 2008 Balenciaga collection (which is the collection that inspired Ghesquière for this fragrance) starring straight at the camera. “Florabotanica targets a younger consumer — 18-year-olds and up,” says Catherine Walsh, senior vice president of American Fragrances for Coty Prestige.
“Florabotanica” will be available exclusivly for one-month in September with Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman then expanding to Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale’s in October. The line will include 30-, 50 and 100-ml. eau de parfum sprays as well as body lotion and shower gel. It will retail from $65-$125.
