The Bachelorette Finale – I’ve Fallen in Love With Two Different Guys

The Bachelorette Finale – I’ve Fallen in Love With Two Different Guys

In beautiful Wilmstad, Curacao, Bachelorette Emily Maynard is in love with both Arie and Jef. The previews for this episode would have you believe that Emily pulls a Brad and doesn’t pick anybody, but luckily her mind is made up before the end of the episode.

The Bachelorette EmilyMeet the Parents

Emily is dressed simply but wears a big beautiful stone and crystal necklace, forming the shapes of flowers around her neck. Both men will get to meet Emily’s parents, her brother, and her future sister-in-law.

First up is Jef.

Jef comes  with a bouquet of flowers for each Emily’s mother and her brother’s fiancé. It would seem that Emily’s brother, whose emotions seem guarded and whose face is hard to read, is the one to win over but Jef’s easy and transparent nature gets the pass. Jef also wins over Emily’s father who gives him consent to ask Emily for her hand in marriage.

Emily’s family is under the impression that their minds are made up, but then Arie comes in. Arie brings a wooden box as a present for her family. Inside is every rose that Emily has given him. Arie quickly wins over Emily’s brother and also gets her father’s blessing for marriage.

When both men have left Emily wants a simple black and white answer from her family. Who do they like best? They don’t know, they’re happy with both. This seems to actually anger Emily who insists that they don’t want to say one in case she picks the other, but they just don’t know. And if at this point she can’t pick, how can she expect her family to do the job for her?

Emily’s Date with Jef

Jef is super at ease and pumped for his date with Emily; Emily is stressed out and confused. She’s also decided that neither men get to meet Ricki. This is an issue for Jef, and he gently explains why he’d like to meet her daughter but doesn’t pressure Emily into it. Emily quickly, and with a big smile, changes her mind and brings Jef back to her place in Curacao.

Emily introduces Jef as her friend and the two treat each other as such, no hand holding or awkward forms of affection. Jef is very easy going and doesn’t push himself on Ricki, who’s swimming about in the pool. He reminds her to wear her goggles, “safety first”, and then Ricki wants him to come jump off the little bridge into the pool with her. What does Jef do? He straps on a pair of pink goggles and jumps right in with her. The three then enjoy a fun filled afternoon together in the pool.

Jef says about Ricki, “She’s the most beautiful little six year old…She’s funny and wild, she’s so fun. I don’t know how to describe it….it just [feels] natural and fun.”  Jef explains that being with Ricki feels just as natural and easy as it does when he’s with her mother.  He then goes on to say that the best part this day was, “there’s a little bit of real life and normal life in this whole situation.”

Jef goes home to get ready for dinner and Emily stays at her house with Ricki to do the same. When she meets back up with Jef she tells him that Ricki wants him to come play again tomorrow. (How cute.)

At the end of Emily and Jef’s date he takes out a book he’s made of their trips together. He’s made it a Where’s Emily and Jef style book, and drawn in stick figures of them throughout it. One such stick figure includes them in scuba (/snorkeling?) gear.

Emily’s Date with Arie

Before Emily goes out with Arie, she meets with Chris Harrison. After yesterday’s date Emily has made up her mind and wants to tell Arie before the rose ceremony. She feels bad, looks scared, and keeps crying.

While waiting for Emily, Arie makes a love potion out of local island flowers. When Emily comes to break up with him, she’s halted with the application of love potion put onto her wrists. Unfortunately for Arie, he’s a race car driver and not a sorcerer. Emily, crying, breaks up with him. Arie seems extremely hurt, confused, and angry. He doesn’t sit around to whisper sweet nothing’s to Emily, but leaves. He kisses her on the cheek goodbye and gets in the car heartbroken.

The Rose Ceremony

Emily looks STUNNING. She looks like a modern day princess and you know what? I think she’s gotten her happily ever after. After she picks Jef, telling him that she The Bachelorette Emily & Jefended it with Arie yesterday, he gets down on his knee and proposes. After 10 seconds (Chris Harrison gives us the count later in the episode) Emily accepts and Ricki comes running out of the house to join them. All three, Jef, Emily and Ricki, walk hand in hand beaming in the tropical breeze.
