Adam Lambert has earned a lot of titles over the course of his career, but his latest honor is one that he should be the most proud of. On Jan. 31, the American Idol alum received the Unity Award from the We Are Family Foundation at NYC’s Hammerstein Ballroom. The non-profit organization, which was founded by producer/songwriter Nile Rodgers in 2002, strives to create an appreciation for cultural diversity through a variety of support programs.
Lambert, best known for his chart-topping hits like “For Your Entertainment” and “If I Had You,” was honored at the foundation’s 2012 Celebration Gala, where he mixed and mingled with actress Rosie Perez, TV personality Montel Williams, PR maven Kelly Cutrone and Big Apple Housewives Ramona Singer, LuAnn De Lesseps and Aviva Drescher, Celebrity Hairstylist Angelo David, Celebrity Psychic Thomas John, Celebrity Eyebrow Stylist Joey Healy;, among others. As a result of spreading peaceful messages through his music, the singer was presented with the Unity Award. The 31-year-old, who also rocked the stage at the event, has long been an advocate for LGBT causes, in addition to his involvement with GLAAD, the Trevor Project, Equality California, and charitable organizations such as MusiCares and DonorsChoose.org.
