Glee-Tastic Emmy Opening!!
For those who missed the Emmy telecast last night, you missed what was sure to be one of the the best Emmy opening numbers!!
Host Jimmy Fallon partnered with ‘Glee’ cast Lea Michelle, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Jane Lynch, and Chris Colfer, The Vampire Diaries Nina Dobrev, Lost’s Jorge Garcia, Mad Men’s Jon Ham, Community and Soup Host Joel McHale, Tina Fey, Kate Gosselin,Randy Jackson and Tim Gunn for a cover of Bruce Springsteen ‘Born to Run’.
This is really in my Top favorites along with last years host Neil Patrick Harris’ ‘Put Down the Remote’ song & dance number.
Betty White, Neil Patrick Harris Already Emmy Winners
Neil Patrick Harris, Betty White, and John Lithgow all walked aways with Emmy awards after last nights award ceremony for the Creative Arts.
Most of these awards are for areas like best Sound Mixing, Direction, etc. However the awards for “Best Guest Actor/Actress” were also awarded.
Betty White won “Best Guest Actress in a Comedy” for her hosting role on Saturday Night Live, John Lithgow won “Best Guest Actor in a Drama” for his role as the mass-murder ‘Trinity’ on Showtimes ‘Dexter’, and Ann-Marget won in the “Best Guest Actress in a Drama” for her role on ‘Law & Order: SVU’.
It was Neil Patrick Harris who had the big night!! Harris won 2 Emmy Awards, “Best Guest Actor in a Comedy” for his role as ‘Bryan Ryan’ on the ever popular ‘Glee’ and the again in the “Best Special Class Program” for hosting the 63rd Annual Tony Awards. Harris is still up for ‘Best Supporting Actor – Comedy’ for HMIYM.
HBO took home 17 Awards, more then any other network, and other winners include Anne Hathaway for ‘The Simpsons’, ‘Glee’, ‘Weeds’, and ‘Nurse Jackie’.
You can see the full list of winners after the jump.
The Prime-Time Emmy Awards will air on Aug 29 on NBC with Host Jimmy Fallon (who also won last at the Creative Arts ceremony)
Emmy Nominations Announced, Glee Heads the Pack
The nominations for the 62nd Annual Emmy Awards were announced this morning, and ‘Glee’ is leading the pack with 11 nominations including nods in Directing, Hairstyle, Guest Star nods for Kristin Chenowith, Mike O’Mally and Neil Patrick Harris, Best Actor/Actress, and Best Supporting Actor Actress categories.
‘Lost’ also got quite a few nods this year, and the “popular” picks showed up as well with nods for 30 Rock, The Office, Two and Half Men, House, and Mad Men.
Some shockers however was nods for both Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton for ‘Friday Night Lights’, Betty White for hosting SNL, and the total absence of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ from the Big Categories.
It looks like TBS’s campaign might have worked because ‘The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien was nominated for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series. However, Conan will be going up against both The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report. So, him winning will really be a big F**K You to NBC seeing as they are hosting the Awards this year.
Jimmy Fallon to Host 62nd Annual Emmy Award
“Hosting the Emmys has been a dream of mine ever since they told me I was doing it.”
That is what Jimmy Fallon had to say after he was named the host for the 62nd Annual Emmy Awards today!
“Jimmy was the natural choice as one of the most promising and likable young entertainers who will now have the chance to display his many talents on television’s biggest night,” said Paul Telegdy, executive vp of alternative at NBC
The awards are moving from CBS to NBC this year (who also named Ricky Gervais as the return host of the 2011 Golden Globes last week)
What you do you think? Will Jimmy be able to top the awesomeness that was Neil Patrick Harris’ hosting job from the 2009 telecast?
We will find out when the 62nd Annual Emmy awards go live on Aug 29th on NBC!
