American Idol Top 10 Women – Slowly Improving

With all the drama Crystal Bowersox had with her illness, I was happy that she had one of the best performances of night with CCR’s “Long As I See The Light”.

Other performances that stood out (in the good way) were Lilly Scott, Katelyn Epperly, and Katie Stevens.

Then there was Siobhan Magnus whose “Think” by Aretha Franklin ended the show on a much needed high.  The note that not most people can hit, sealed her fate and I won’t be shocked at all to see her in the final Top 12!.

The remaining girls Paige Miles,Michelle Delamor,Didi Benami,Lacey Brown, and Haeley Vaughn all had pitch problems and made bad song choices.  Vaughn’s version of Miley Cyrus’ ‘The Climb’ was all over the place and poor Didi just didn’t make the right song choice with ‘Lean on Me’.

Over all I would say that the Women’s night was by far better then last weeks and 10x better then the Top 10 men’s performance.

Tonight 2 men and 2 women will be voted off along with a performance by Danny Gokey.

Ailing Crystal Bowersox’s American Idol Future Unclear

UPDATE:Crystal Bowersox just performed live on American Idol singing a CCR song.

Crystal Bowersox’s medical condition caused the swap in line up yesterday causing the Men to preform instead of the Women.

Now, it is still unclear weather Crystal will be able to perform tonight and continue in the competition.

Ryan Seacrest had a quick chat with AI producer Ken Warwick and this what he said:

Ryan Seacrest: What happened?
Ken Warwick: Actually I was in the shower about 8 o’clock yesterday morning and I suddenly got the phone call that Crystal had been taken to hospital and I thought “Yeah, is she going to be okay? What’s the problem?” And I found out actually within an hour that it was worse than we expected, and she was going to be in the hospital all day. And then we had a decision to make as to whether or not we were going to try to put the show together without her, what the fan issues would be. Could we take maybe a pre-recording she’d made in rehearsal that we could package together so people could vote? Could I show one from last week and get people to vote? Or was that it for her, which normally is the situation. If you’re in the Olympics and you’re going for the semifinal for the final, if you don’t turn up…

Seacrest: Then you’re out.
Warwick: …you don’t go straight through to the final. So it was a difficult decision to make. We came to the conclusion really that the fairest thing to do overall – because I’ve got three of four other girls who got sniffles and the flu – that if the boys were okay with it, we put the boys on [yesterday] and the girls on tonight.

Seacrest: Can you talk about what she has or what happened to her?
Warwick: We’re not really sure yet, Ryan. She did have a condition that we know about, but how bad it is yet, we still don’t know. The doctors are meeting at this moment – this morning – and will make a decision a bit little later on in the day.

Seacrest: At this moment you don’t know if she’s going to be in or out, but you could find out at any moment?
Warwick: I hopefully will know by midday, but not until then.

Seacrest: What happens then? God forbid she’s out of the competition. What do we do?
Warwick: If she’s out of the competition, it would probably be that we only eliminate one girl this week.

Seacrest: So eliminate one on Thursday night. A tough thing because you’re in a competition like this and then all of the sudden something happens that’s maybe out of your control…
Warwick: You go through all your life singing, hoping, waiting for your break, then this comes along and it will go sour, which is an awful shame.

I guess we will find out for sure tonight when the Top 10 (or 9) Women preform live!

American Idol Top 10 Men: Epic Fail…Again

Okay so far we are into our 2nd week of the Semi-Finals of American Idol and to me, not one single person (man or woman) is standing out as a front runner.

Due to a medical issue, the top 10 men performed last night (with the women going tonight), and the night was spent listening to bad runs, pitchy vocals, and bad song choices.

The only person who didn’t make want to mute the TV is Michael Lynche’s version of ”It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World’.

The worst of the night had to go to either Tim Urban or Lee Dewyze who both had pitch problems.

While I normally like Casey James, I agreed with Kara that his guitar skills totally overshadowed his weak performance of  ‘I Don’t Wanna Be’ by Gavin DeGraw.  He look way too stiff during most of the song.

At this point in the game I can’t really guess on who is staying and who is going (with is exception of Mr. Lynche).

Hopefully, the women will redeem themselves tonight!

American Idol down by 4

The first week of live American Idol performances are now done and we said goodbye to 4 hopefuls this week.

Who didn’t make the cut?

Tyler Grady, Ashley Rodriguez, Janell Wheeler, and Joe Munoz all said so long to being this year’s American Idol by getting the least amount of votes.

Now, thanks to the awesome NYC Blizzard going on, my cable kept going out so I missed most of the boy’s performances, but based of the recap I saw I would say America had it right with the boy’s.  Tyler looked like he was just trying to be way to 70′s cool instead of focusing on his vocals, while Joe tried his hand at Jason Maraz and pretty much failed.

The Girls, well lets put it this way, I can’t even remember their performances so that says enough right there.  Although I do have to say ALL of the girl’s performances this week were pretty weak, with almost all having pitch problems.

EW.com has a Q/A up with this week’s 4 AI exits.

We have 2 more weeks for Semi-Final rounds till we get out Top 12.
