Emmy Nominations Announced, Glee Heads the Pack

The nominations for the 62nd Annual Emmy Awards were announced this morning, and ‘Glee’ is leading the pack with 11 nominations including nods in Directing, Hairstyle, Guest Star nods for Kristin Chenowith, Mike O’Mally and Neil Patrick Harris, Best Actor/Actress, and Best Supporting Actor Actress categories.

‘Lost’ also got quite a few nods this year, and the “popular” picks showed up as well with nods for 30 Rock, The Office, Two and Half Men, House, and Mad Men.

Some shockers however was nods for both Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton for ‘Friday Night Lights’, Betty White for hosting SNL, and the total absence of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ from the Big Categories.

It looks like TBS’s campaign might have worked because ‘The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien was nominated for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series.  However, Conan will be going up against both The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report.  So, him winning will really be a big F**K You to NBC seeing as they are hosting the Awards this year.

NBC Cancels Heroes, Mercy and Trauma

Just a few hours after NBC confirmed the cancellation of ‘Law & Order’, came the announcement that ‘Heroes’ was also canceled.

‘Heroes’ being canceled was not as big as a shock.  The series averaged a little more then 6 million viewers this year which is quite a drop from the 14 million it got its first season.

Jury is still out if NBC will allow any kind of wrap up on the series.

NBC also cancelled Mercy and Trauma both after less then stellar first seasons.

NBC’s upfront is on Monday and will announce their fall line up.

Its Official NBC Cancels Law & Order!!

As we mentioned yesterday, rumors were surfacing about NBC canceling the flagship ‘Law & Order’.

This has now been confirmed by NBC.

After 20 seasons, the long running show has been canceled.  The series finale will air on May 24th.

NBC will continue with ‘Law & Order: SVU’ and the new series of ‘Law & Order: L.A.’ .

NBC Chairman Jeff Gaspi had the following to say “The full measure of the collective contributions made by Dick Wolf and his Law & Orderfranchise over the last two decades to the success of NBC and Universal Media Studios cannot be overstated, the legacy of his original Law & Order series will continue to make an impact like no other series before.”

‘Law & Order’ is now tied with ‘Gunsmoke’ for longest prime time drama on air at 20 seasons.  ’The Simpsons’ holds the record for longest scripted series.
